MetroHealth Featured in New Documentary That Tackles Maternal and Infant Health Crisis


Limited tickets are available for screenings of "American Delivery," a documentary that will premiere at the Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF48) at 7:30 p.m. on April 6 at Playhouse Square's Mimi Ohio Theatre.

The film highlights MetroHealth’s dedication to maternal and infant health as it examines the nation's maternal mortality crisis and the nurses working to solve it. It features MetroHealth President and CEO Airica Steed, Ed.D., RN, MBA, FACHE – a fourth-generation nurse – and MetroHealth’s Nurse Family Partnership, which pairs nurses with pregnant patients throughout their pregnancies and until their children's second birthday.

An encore presentation will be shown at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, April 7, and a panel discussion will follow with Dr. Steed, “American Delivery” filmmakers and other community leaders addressing this crisis.




MetroHealth Appoints Chair of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

The MetroHealth System has appointed Richard Wilson, MD, as Chair of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), a role in which he’s served on an interim basis since August 2023. He also is Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Case Western Reserve University and Co-Director of the MetroHealth Center for Rehabilitation Research.




MetroHealth Welcomes New Chair of Department of Surgery

The MetroHealth System appointed Marie L. Crandall, MD, MPH, FACS, as its new Chair of the Department of Surgery. Dr. Crandall has an international reputation as a health services researcher, particularly in the areas of injury risk factors and outcomes, disparities, geographic information systems in trauma research, gun violence, and violence prevention. She comes from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville.

Registration Open for 2024 Men’s Health Fair

MetroHealth’s third Men's Health Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the MetroHealth Cleveland Heights Medical Center (10 Severance Center, Cleveland Heights) and Cuyahoga Community College's Metropolitan Campus (2900 Community College Avenue, Cleveland). MetroHealth will have physicians and specialists available to answer questions, and attendees will be able to take advantage of more than 30 different free screenings.
