MetroHealth Featured in New Documentary That Tackles Maternal and Infant Health Crisis


MetroHealth’s dedication to maternal and infant health and ensuring all patients have the best chance for a safe pregnancy is highlighted in a new documentary film that examines the nation's maternal mortality crisis and the nurses working to solve it.

"American Delivery" will premiere at the Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF48) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Playhouse Square's Mimi Ohio Theatre. The documentary features MetroHealth President and CEO Airica Steed, Ed.D., RN, MBA, FACHE – a fourth-generation nurse – and MetroHealth’s Nurse Family Partnership, which pairs nurses with pregnant patients throughout their pregnancies and until their children's second birthday. Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, March 22.

MetroHealth Expands Bold Commitment to Advance Health Equity and Tri-C Partnership

On March 20, MetroHealth outlined a bold, community-centered agenda to advance health equity and ultimately eliminate the glaring gap in life expectancies in Greater Cleveland and beyond. This includes formally announcing Cuyahoga Community College as host of this year’s MetroHealth Men’s Health Fair at the College’s Metropolitan Campus in downtown Cleveland. MetroHealth will simultaneously host the fair at its Cleveland Heights Medical Center.

Research Scientist Elected to National Academy of Inventors

Tina Vrabec, PhD, Research Scientist in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the MetroHealth Center for Rehabilitation Research, has been elected to the prestigious National Academy of Inventors.

NAI Senior Members are active faculty, scientists and administrators who have demonstrated innovation-producing technologies that have brought, or aspire to bring, a tangible impact on the welfare of society. They also have growing success in patents, licensing, and commercialization, while educating and mentoring the next generation of inventors.

Virtual Health Talk: The Importance of Colon Cancer Screenings

Join us at noon Thursday, March 28, for a free virtual health talk. MetroHealth gastroenterologist Adrian S. Lindsey, MD, will discuss who is at risk for colon cancer and why colon cancer screenings are vital to the prevention and diagnosis of colon cancer. Attendees may submit questions ahead of time. Registration Open for 2024 Men’s Health Fair

MetroHealth’s third Men's Health Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the MetroHealth Cleveland Heights Medical Center (10 Severance Center, Cleveland Heights) and Cuyahoga Community College's Metropolitan Campus (2900 Community College Avenue, Cleveland). MetroHealth will have physicians and specialists available to answer questions, and attendees will be able to take advantage of more than 30 different free screenings.
